"Emmy" (oil on linen; 8" x 6") sold

sold

"Emmy" is for Joanna who lives in Singapore.  She found my custom pet portraits on Etsy and decided to commission me to paint her beloved Emmy.  I am becoming world famous!  Emmy is a 5-year-old beagle.  She is spirited, mischievous, and life-loving, which I hope you can feel in her portrait.

"Daisy" (oil on linen; 8" x 8") sold

sold

"Daisy" is for BethAnn.  She commissioned the portrait for her friend who recently lost her pup of 11 years.  Daisy, a Beagle mix, was a momma's girl, a little love bug.  She loved to go for car rides and play "copilot".  She is deeply missed by her family.

"Beamer" (oil on linen; 8" x 6") sold

sold

"Beamer" is another painting for my Facebook fan, Tracey.  Beamer is a Beagle/Brittany Spaniel mix, named after the Virginia Tech football coach, Frank Beamer.  He is probably the most perfect dog on the planet, says Tracey: super cute, super affectionate with just the right amount of craziness with so much personality.

Normally, I would smile politely at such a statement.  But, with Beamer, I am going to take Tracey at her word.  Look at him in his signature pose of crossing his paws when lying down.  Have you ever seen a dog doing that?

If you send your pet's pictures to kimstenbergart@gmail.com, I will make beautiful pet portraits out of them.  How fun is that!  At the end of September, I will do a drawing and one lucky person wins a free painting.  You can buy the painting anytime, but there is no obligation. Thanks!

Today is Day Twenty Five of Leslie Saeta's 30 in 30 Challenge.  Five more days!  I am really seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!

Ethel the beagle leads a pampered life with two layers of satin pillows and all.  "If only someone would play with me, it wouldn't be so dull around here.  I am going to take another nap."

"The Itch" (oil on linen; 7" x 7") sold

sold

I don't know if Ethel has lice or not.  But she kept scratching for minutes!  I am sure I made her nervous and this was her response.  I probably didn't make her snout long enough, but I nailed her doleful expression.  Oh, I love dogs!

"Beagle Siblings" (oil on linen; 8" x 6") sold

sold

Reference photo

Last Friday night, I was at a party.  While talking with other guests, I kept getting distracted by a pair of handsome beagles.  As I have been dying to paint dogs, I tried to take pictures  with my BlackBerry.  Unfortunately they were camera-shy.  I managed to take a few snap shots, but couldn't get my "dumb" phone to email them to my laptop.  (No wonder that RIM, the producer of BlackBerry, is in trouble.)  What you see above is the picture I took of the image on my phone's screen!  When there is a will, there is a way.
