"Sami" was commissioned by Bridget and her siblings who are gifting the portrait to their parents for Christmas. Sami passed away in the fall at the age of 14. She loved people and attention. If you weren't petting her, she would whine and paw at you until you were. Sami also loved the lake more than anywhere else. Whenever she was outside at the family's cottage, she would sit on the dock (as in the painting) staring at people until someone came over to throw sticks into the water for her to fetch. Sitting at the dock like that came to be her signature pose and Bridget wanted her portrait to capture it.

"Lucky" is for Ali.  Lucky was a 'sheprador'--Lab and some sort of Shepherd.  He was Ali's mom's best friend.  They got him at a shelter when he was 5 and kept his name.  He had been returned there twice, and was a really sensitive guy.  He was amazingly well behaved, and loved his kitty friends he lived with--chased them, slept with them every day.  Ali's mom called him "McDreamy" because she thought he was the most handsome dog on the planet.  He loved snow and would roll and roll the second he got outside when Chicago got enough.  He died when he was 13.

"Wyatt" (oil on linen; 8" x 6") sold

"Wyatt" is for Erin who commissioned the portrait as a Christmas gift for her husband.  Wyatt is a 8-months-old beagle mix rescue dog. He loves to eat, run and play with other dogs at the dog park and doggy day camp.  He loves people just as much as other dogs. He is the greatest snuggler and captured the hearts of his human parents.

"Madison at the Beach" (oil on linen; 10" x 8") sold

"Madison at the Beach" is another painting for Mike.  It is the same dog as yesterday's subject, but she has grown up and is enjoying herself at the beach, romping, splashing.  Oh, what joy it is to be a dog!
